BE HEALTHY: WIL's Program in Cambodia

Updated: Apr 17, 2021

On February 16, 2021 WIL presented an educational program with the Community for Khmer Villages, highlighting the Health Literacy Advisors program which WIL has funded. Adapting a rural health curriculum and outreach model to the Khmer culture, WIL’s grant piloted a certification training program that involved training six women from various Khmer villages in basic health care.

The mission of The Community for Khmer Villages is to develop culturally-appropriate programs to improve the health and wellbeing of Khmer families living in the remote Cambodian villages and to alleviate extreme, chronic poverty in Cambodia’s rural populations. The program also featured the well-known psychologist Dr. Gail Brenner, who shared her personal volunteer experience in Cambodian villages.
