Grants
Competitive awards to provide financial support for organizations working with women and girls globally
WIL Grants
Empowerment Grants
In accordance with WIL of Greater Philadelphia’s mission of “empowering women as leaders globally,” WIL offers competitive empowerment grants to provide financial support for non-profits and NGOs. The empowerment grants target areas of WIL’s mission other than microfinance and village banks: education, health, training, social and political empowerment programs for women.
Grants of up to $1500 are awarded to provide seed money and/or help build capacity in programs. In 2020, 7 grants were awarded to organizations in 5 different countries.
In 2018, WIL funded special, one-time Empowerment Grants of up to $5,000 to support the completion of a single major initiative or project for a small non-profit organization in a developing country. Four special grants were awarded to organizations in Peru, Tanzania, Sudan, and Sierra Leone for a total of $15,000.

Giving Circle Grants
Giving Circle grants have a similar scope as Empowerment Grants but are scaled to accommodate larger projects.
This is a new effort for WIL, with a goal of awarding $5000 in 2020 to an organization that is deeply committed to WIL's mission.
WIL members and non-members are invited to the WIL Giving Circle and take part in the decision making for the grant recipient.
