Save Three Lives: Fight Famine and Ease Population Pressure: Break the Chains of Women of the World

Women International Leaders of Greater Philadelphia (WIL) continues its educational programming with Save Three Lives with NPR gardening specialist Mike McGrath speaking about famine prevention best practice for women and girls on Tuesday, November 5, 2019.



Mike McGrath is the host of the nationally syndicated PBS show You Bet Your Garden as well as garden editor for WTOP news radio in Washington, DC and contributing editor and regular columnist for Greenprints Magazine. McGrath co-authored the book Save Three Lives exploring how women, who comprise at least 8-% of the farm labor force in developing nations, most benefit from prevention methods that include local and native crop species. The author of several books on Tomatoes, Compost and Kitchen Gardening, he is the former editor-in-chief of Organic Gardening magazine and during his six-year tenure the magazine was the largest circulation gardening magazine in the world and garnered four consecutive “Best of Show” awards as a major exhibitor at the Philadelphia Flower Show.
