Join WIL on for an inspiring panel discussion, YOU DON’T HAVE TO BE MELINDA GATES, on how to make a philanthropic difference.  Moderated by Carol Cunningham with panelists Nancy Burd and Julia Enyart, the program will focus on how to evaluate which nonprofit organization to donate to, and how best to support them. In the second part of the evening you'll break into small groups facilitated by Nancy, Julia and Carol as you discuss what is important to you and manage your own non-profit giving.

WIL member Carol Cunningham is President of Cunningham Consulting, providing consulting, training and coaching service to multinational and global companies across five continents, focusing on diversity and multicultural issues.  She is also the President of the Board of Gambia Women’s Initiative concentrating on economic empowerment for women.

Nancy Burd is the founder of The Burd Group, a national consulting firm advising grantmakers and nonprofit agencies on strategic and effective philanthropy and capacity building initiatives.  As Vice President for Grantmaking of The Philadelphia Foundation, she was credited with the transformation of the Foundation’s grant strategy, establishing the Foundation as an advocate for effective philanthropy and nonprofit sustainability.


Julia Enyart is an impact investor and strategist with nine years of experience across investment management, sustainable and impact investing, and international development, focusing on multi-year strategic initiatives.  Currently at Glenmede Trust as project manager over the sustainable and impact investing program, she has worked at Palladium researching agribusiness and energy enterprises in West Africa, managed a portfolio of funding from U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) and in Ghana, Kenya and South Africa as a business development consultant.

WIL presents the 2018 Women's Global Empowerment Award to M. Night Shyamalan Foundation and LEWA Wildlife Conservancy for their work to improve lives of women and their families around the world.

FUNraiser - November 5, 2015

WIL's first fundraising event celebrated the organization's tax-exempt status.  Linda Resnick, former president of the organization, received the Bobbie Gohn Inspiration Award for cofounding WIL, as well as dedicating her nonprofit experience and activism for women’s rights to WIL. Leigh Carter, founding director of Fonkoze USA, received the Microfinance Innovator Award on behalf of Fonkoze for providing services to over 200,000 clients in Haiti. KPMG received the Corporate Supporter Award for serving as WIL’s principal corporate sponsor at that time.
