WIL of Greater Philadelphia
“Women Empowering Women Globally”
WIL of Greater Philadelphia brings together women from diverse backgrounds who are committed to empowering women in developing countries. Members contribute their time, knowledge and funds to support a broad array of projects — village banks, training programs, artisanal collectives, education and health initiatives –- that raise women’s economic and social status, promote self-determination, and help women become community leaders.
WIL members strive to educate themselves and others about the challenges to women’s empowerment. Regular meetings in Philadelphia provide members with the opportunity to learn about women’s global issues and develop solutions to the challenges women face. WIL also organizes group travel to communities where WIL-supported projects are located. WIL is a 501(c)3 not-for-profit corporation organization.
WIL was founded in January 2007 as a nonprofit member organization. WIL has funded eleven village banks through our affiliation with The International Alliance for Women.
